Have you ever poured your heart out to Allah (SWT), made sincere dua, but felt like nothing changed? It’s like you’re shouting into a void and getting nothing but silence back. It’s frustrating, I get it. But here’s the thing: your duas are NEVER ignored. They’re either accepted right away, delayed for something better, or stored as a reward for the Hereafter. So, what could be stopping your duas from being answered the way you want? Let’s dive into it!
1. Lack of Sincerity (Ikhlas)
If your heart’s not in it, how can you expect your duas to be accepted? The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Call upon Allah while being certain of being answered, and know that Allah does not respond to a supplication from the heart of one who is heedless and occupied.” (Tirmidhi)
Solution: Before making dua, clear your heart from distractions. Focus purely on Allah (SWT). It’s just you and Him. No one else matters.
2. Haram Sources of Income & Food
Are you consuming food bought from haram earnings? Or are you wearing clothes purchased through questionable means? The Prophet (PBUH) warned: “A man travels far, disheveled and dusty, raising his hands to the sky, ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ while his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothing is unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered?” (Muslim)
Solution: Make sure your income and food are pure. If you’re not sure, double-check. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
3. Impurity (Taharah)
Sister, cleanliness is half of faith. If you’re making dua while you’re not in a state of purity, it could affect how your dua is received.
Solution: Always ensure you’ve performed wudu before making your heartfelt duas. And if you can, wear clean and modest clothing. It shows respect.
4. Being Hasty and Impatient
We live in a world of instant gratification. But Allah (SWT) works on a different timeline. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The servant’s supplication will continue to be answered as long as he does not ask for something sinful or the breaking of family ties, and as long as he is not hasty.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
Solution: Trust the process. Keep making dua, even when things seem stagnant. Patience is key.
5. Neglecting Salat (Prayer)
Sis, if you’re skipping your prayers but expecting your duas to be accepted, you might want to rethink your priorities. Salah is the first thing we will be asked about on the Day of Judgment!
Solution: Make your prayers your top priority. And when you make dua right after your salah, your connection to Allah (SWT) is even stronger.
6. Doubting Allah’s Mercy
If you feel like your sins are too big to be forgiven, you’re underestimating Allah’s mercy. Allah (SWT) says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” (Qur’an 40:60)
Solution: Believe in Allah’s infinite mercy. Make dua with hope, not despair.
7. Disrespecting Parents
Did you know that being disrespectful to your parents could be a reason your duas aren’t being answered? The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized the importance of being good to parents countless times.
Solution: If you’ve wronged them, apologize. And if you haven’t, then treat them with kindness and respect every single day.
8. Making Dua Without Effort
You can’t just make dua for good grades and not study, sis! Allah (SWT) wants to see you put in the effort too.
Solution: Put in the work, and then make dua. Show Allah (SWT) that you’re doing your part and then trust Him to do the rest.
