6 Things That Are Ruining Your Peace and How to Fix Them

Do you ever feel like your heart is heavy, your mind is clouded, and true peace seems like a distant dream?  You’re not alone! In today’s chaotic world, finding peace can feel impossible. But guess what? Islam has already given us the ultimate guide to peace, straight from the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Ready to find out what’s been stealing your peace and how to reclaim it? Let’s dive in!

1. Holding Grudges

You might think holding onto grudges gives you power. But in reality, it’s like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.” (Sahih Muslim)

How to Fix It: Learn to forgive. Not for them, but for YOU. Make dua for the person who hurt you, and let it go. Trust me, your heart will feel a thousand times lighter.

2. Comparing Yourself to Others

Scrolling through Instagram and seeing all those perfect lives? The truth is, most of it is just a highlight reel. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us to look at those who have less, not those who have more. “Look at those below you, not those above you. This will keep you from belittling Allah’s blessings.” (Sahih Bukhari)

How to Fix It: Practice gratitude. Start your day by listing three things you’re thankful for. Keep your eyes on your own blessings, and suddenly, they’ll feel so much bigger.

3. Ignoring Your Salah

If you’re feeling lost or empty, this could be the reason. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The difference between us and them is Salah. Whoever abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.” (Sahih Muslim)

How to Fix It: Prioritize your prayers. Set reminders, create a cozy prayer space, and most importantly, make sincere dua for consistency. You’ll be amazed at how much tranquility it brings.

4. Surrounding Yourself with Negative Influences

The people around you affect your heart more than you realize. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “A man is upon the religion of his best friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.” (Abu Dawud)

How to Fix It: Seek friends who bring you closer to Allah. Join Islamic study groups, make friends at the mosque, or even connect online with like-minded sisters. Your circle should be your spiritual support system.

5. Overthinking Everything

Endless worrying can shatter your peace. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us to rely on Allah’s plan. “If you were to rely upon Allah with reliance due to Him, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds.” (Tirmidhi)

How to Fix It: Make dua, then leave it to Allah. Trust Him wholeheartedly, because His plan is always better. Write down your worries and hand them over to Him. You’ll feel your stress melt away.

6. Forgetting Your Purpose

Life can feel pointless when you forget why you’re here. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) lived every moment with purpose ,  to worship Allah and serve His creation.

How to Fix It: Remind yourself of your purpose every day. Recite your intentions, renew your faith, and find ways to serve others. Nothing brings more peace than living for Allah.
