3 Things to Remember When You Are Feeling Hopeless

Feeling lost? Completely overwhelmed? Like no one understands what you’re going through? I hear you. Life can be tough, especially when it feels like nothing is going right. But hold on, sister! Islam teaches us that even in the darkest of times, there’s a light waiting to guide us. Let’s dive into three powerful reminders straight from the beautiful teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that will help you find hope again.

1. Allah’s Mercy Is Bigger Than Your Problems

Ever feel like your problems are too huge to overcome? Remember this: Allah’s mercy is GREATER. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne: ‘My Mercy overpowers My Anger.’” (Sahih al-Bukhari).

Whenever you feel hopeless, remind yourself that Allah’s mercy is infinite. Whatever you’re facing right now, it’s not bigger than Allah’s mercy and His ability to guide you through it.

Action Tip: Make it a habit to say “Astaghfirullah” (I seek forgiveness from Allah) whenever you feel overwhelmed. Not only does it cleanse your sins, but it also brings you closer to Allah’s mercy.

2. Hardships Are a Pathway to Growth

Did you know the Prophet (PBUH) faced countless struggles throughout his life? Yet, he always maintained patience and faith. He said: “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.” (Sahih al-Bukhari).

Your pain is not pointless. It’s a purification. It’s a means for you to grow and come out stronger, wiser, and closer to Allah.

Action Tip: Pray during the last third of the night (Tahajjud) and pour your heart out to Allah. Ask Him for guidance, strength, and ease. Trust me, the peace that follows is indescribable.

3. You Are Never Alone – Allah Is Always With You

Sometimes, feeling hopeless can feel like being abandoned. But here’s the beautiful truth: Allah is ALWAYS there. He says in the Qur’an: “And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.” (Qur’an 50:16).

Your Creator knows your pain, your struggles, and your silent tears. He listens when everyone else turns away. Isn’t that comforting?

Action Tip: Whenever you feel alone, make Du’a. Pour your heart out to Allah. He’s always listening, even when you feel like nobody else is.

Final Thoughts

The next time you feel hopeless, remind yourself of these beautiful teachings. And most importantly, never let go of hope. Allah’s plan is greater than anything you can imagine.
